I don't agree with articles from white people that discuss, in some way, shape, or form, what is and isn't racist. It's like someone with a couple calculus courses trying to teach a Calculus class. Leave it to the experts, ie: Black folks. This article scares me, because the author is spending their time trying to tell white folks when it's okay to use GIFS of Black folks - instead of supporting other white folks to dismantle harmful systems. It encourages the notion that Black folks demand "too much" of us when they ask for equality and respectful treatment. And it is about the perceived "needs" of white folks - In this case, to use an Oprah GIF, I guess? White folks practicing true allyship don't question relatively new conversations about how to be anti-racist, and they certainly don't center their own personal desires or feelings about trivial stuff like being frustrated that they maybe shouldn't post that GIF of Dave Chappelle that they really like. They spend their time trying to dismantle oppressive systems and share resources with Black folks individually to have optimal safety and well-being.
